Dear Friends:
I am writing to thank you for your support of the 2011 Providence House People of Hope Celebration. It was a wonderful and memorable evening as all of our friends gathered in unity to help alleviate the life struggles faced by the women and children served at Providence House. We are blessed that you are part of this family.
The Reverend Stephen Chinlund, the Foundress Award honoree, shared some very poignant moments in his life of service to women in prison. He brought home why agencies like Providence House exist, and why the work we do is important in helping to end the cycle of poverty and violence that so often leads to incarceration. The Reverend Chinlund’s reflections were inspiring and undoubtedly left all of us who heard his words with a deeper appreciation of the importance of prison ministry.
The Honorable Rafael Cestero, the People of Hope honoree moved us all with his kind words about the difference Providence House is making in providing supportive housing to people with special needs and low-income families. Mr. Cestero spoke about his many years of public service in facilitating these types of permanent housing projects that provide stability and dignity to vulnerable populations. Providence House is proud that we are part of this movement and we will be breaking ground on a 46 unit permanent supportive housing building in Brooklyn on June 29, 2011 in Brooklyn, New York. You are cordially invited to the groundbreaking.
On behalf of all the families we serve, thank you again for your generous support.
With deep gratitude,
Sister Janet Kinney, CSJ
