Our Services

Providence House operates six group transitional residences, a transitional apartment residence and three permanent housing residences that provide shelter and support to homeless, abused and formerly incarcerated women and their children. Each of our residences provides case management and other support programs to help women get back on their feet and reintegrate into the community.

Focusing on housing, education, employment and sobriety, our goal is to help women become self-sufficient, usually within six months. We develop an individual service plan and a specific set of goals for each of our clients, who meet with case workers every week. This personal and tailored approach contributes to women successfully transforming their lives for the better.

Programs

Providence House assists women during and after their stay with us. It is our goal to keep all of our former residents out of the cycle of homelessness and/or incarceration and on the road to independence and self-sufficiency. Our initiatives include:

  • The Aftercare Program

Our Aftercare Program provides follow-up case management to clients for up to a year after their stay with us. Services include assisting in landlord-tenant negotiations, referrals for job training, substance abuse services, and childcare.

  • The Employment Program

Because unemployment is one of the most significant barriers to self-sufficiency, our Employment Program aims to provide our clients with resources and services to help them find and retain a long-term job.

  • The Family Health Services Program

Many mothers and children are medically underserved before becoming homeless. Our Family Health Services Program employs a Nurse Case Manager, who assesses each family when they arrive at Providence House, maps a health plan for each individual’s needs, and follows up with the family on a regular basis to ensure their health needs are being met.

  • Supportive Housing

Two supportive, affordable housing programs are currently under development, which will provide permanent housing for graduates of our transitional housing programs. In addition, a percentage of these apartments will be set-aside for single, low-income parents from the community.
