A Heartfelt Thank You: 2nd Annual CHEERS Brooklyn Benefit Raises $104,000!

We are beyond thrilled to announce the success of Providence House’s 2nd Annual CHEERS Brooklyn Benefit! Thanks to the incredible support of our community, over 150 attendees gathered to raise a remarkable $104,000 to further our mission of supporting women and families impacted by homelessness.

The evening was filled with joy, laughter, and a shared commitment to making a difference. Guests enjoyed delicious food, lively entertainment, and the opportunity to connect with one another—all while contributing to a cause that is so vital to our community. From the engaging photo booth to heartfelt speeches from Providence House leadership, the night was a celebration of the power of community coming together.

Event Highlights and Inspiring Speeches

Our Chief Program Officer, Rita Taddonio, opened the evening by expressing deep gratitude for the unwavering support from the community and sharing her first hand experience with helping the women who come through our doors.

Board Chair Anju Mahajan delivered an inspiring speech, taking a moment to reflect on Providence House’s remarkable 40-year history. She underscored the challenges faced by women and families experiencing homelessness in Brooklyn and spoke passionately about how our programs provide more than just shelter—they offer hope, dignity, and the tools to rebuild lives.

Anju also emphasized our commitment to creating a safer, more supportive Brooklyn, sharing that our family shelter is one of the most successful in ensuring families don’t return to homelessness after their stay. “We’re not just giving people a place to stay—we’re giving them a pathway to long-term stability,” she said.

Nyasha Salmon, our Senior Director of Programs, brought the audience up to date with exciting developments, including the expansion of our Women's Justice Program. She proudly announced that we are building deeper connections with women on Rikers Island, working with them before their release to ensure they have the resources and support they need to thrive once they reenter the community. She also highlighted the growth of our program leadership team, whose fresh and creative ideas are helping us elevate our impact and deepen our reach across Brooklyn.

Thank You to Our Supporters

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, or sponsored the event. Your generosity allows Providence House to continue providing safe, supportive housing and critical services to nearly 600 individuals each year, including women exiting the justice system and homeless families working toward stability.

The funds raised will go directly toward expanding our programs, enhancing our supportive housing sites, and strengthening our outreach efforts across Brooklyn. We are excited to continue this momentum and look forward to seeing the lasting impact of your contributions on the lives of those we serve.

From all of us at Providence House, thank you for making the 2nd Annual CHEERS Brooklyn Benefit such a success! We can’t wait to see you next year as we continue this important work together.
