Supportive Housing Summer Fun!
In these past few sunny months, Providence House has invested thoroughly in the importance of summer fun! Our staff, residents, and their families in our Supportive Housing program visited Dave & Busters, the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park, Melody Lanes, and the Aquarium. Smiling faces were everywhere, as families embraced joyful activities and unique quality time.
These summer outings within our Supportive Housing Programs are more than just recreational activities – they are bridges that connect residents and staff on a deeper level. Residents can see program staff in a different light – not just as professional support in their lives, but as individuals. This humanization fosters a stronger sense of trust and rapport, making it easier for residents to open up about their own struggles and aspirations.
"Our Supportive Housing residents have formed a really tight knit community over the years. These shared, positive experiences outside of their day-to-day environment and responsibilities help to strengthen that bond. It's wonderful to watch all of them, particularly the children, having fun. You can just tell these will be cherished memories in the years ahead.”
- Antonette Jones, Case Manager
Unlike our other programs where communities come together in moments of transition, our Supportive Housing program is a more permanent community; these moments of togetherness create a sense of belonging, community, and support that reinforce friendships among residents, some of whom have shared a space for 10+ years.
Though school is starting soon and summer is almost over, memories from these outings will last long after the summer months. We hope to continue to provide our community with these experiences every summer, and we appreciate all who make these outings possible!
