It’s Official: Our New Rochelle Kitchen is Under Construction!

Construction is about to begin! On April 27th, Providence House, in partnership with designer Jessica Whitney Gould (of Jessica Whitney Gould Interiors), will kick off a project to renovate, redesign, and beautify the kitchen at our New Rochelle site. In the coming months, we’ll create a space that is not only functional, but one that fosters excitement and joy in the hearts of those who experience it. A more modern and structurally sound kitchen will generate more stability in the daily routine of our residents and resident managers, as well as play a part in keeping our New Rochelle site updated and operative for our single parent families who reside there.

Jessica is the driving force behind this project. Her interior design expertise, craftsmanship, and overall powerful eye for creativity brought the blueprints for this project to fruition – we at Providence House are so grateful for Jessica’s involvement as well as her network’s support! We want to say a big thank you to Jessica, and to all of you who donated to the New Rochelle Kitchen Campaign.

As noted by Jessica, "This has been such a meaningful and inspiring project. I am so looking forward to seeing the mothers at work in their beautiful new kitchen! It's a great honor to use my skills to help this fantastic organization."

The kitchen in a housing program is a space where residents can come together and prepare meals, share food, and build community. Cooking in itself is a powerful tool - it can help build focus around goals (such as being inventive or trying a new recipe), encourage planning ahead, create structure, and empower individuals with the ability to take care of themselves. A community kitchen goes one step further: added social interaction. Our residents are in a period in their lives where new, healthy connections and a reliable support system are absolutely essential. Providence House would like to provide that for them in every place possible, and with this project we can do that in a new, accessible, and functional kitchen at the New Rochelle residence.

This work would not be possible without the generosity of our donors. We are still actively raising funds to support the mother’s that we serve. You too can make a lasting difference by donating today.
